Queensland Photobook makers have generally worked in isolation. To promote, share and support their work they have participated in activities and events over the last 6 years coordinated by the Brisbane Photobook Club (as part of a world wide group of photobook collectives), World Photobook Day and the Australian and New Zealand Photobook Awards. Now, through joining together and forming the The Queensland Photobook Consortia, these photobook authors and artists now present their work to a wider Australian and international audience.
Members of Consortia create work characteristic of the approaches found in the contemporary photobook and artists’ book. The books they present here range from personal stories to those that witness broader aspects of the human condition. Consortia members seek to present their unique vision of the world as an extension to their documentary practice while others work in a more conceptual space experimenting with the book form, images and text.
In this blog post you will be introduced to 16 photobook makers and in some cases collaborators and an image of one of their books. For more information about the bookmakers, their books and contact details download the free Photobook Consortia catalogue.
